NURSING AND PARAMEDICAL INSTITUTE
Late Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar was a renowned freedom fighter of Punjab. he belonged to a family which is known for its total participation in the freedom struggle right from 1919. Late Dr.Shyam Lal Thapar after completing his medical education from Amritsar Medical College stated his Medical Practice in moga in 1931. He becomes a leading Physician of the area.
He started first T.B sanatorium in Moga to fight the deadly disease for which there was no cure in those days. In 1935 he started participating in the freedom struggle under the influence of his Late Maternal Grand Fateh Swami Shardhanand Ji, and Father of nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji. Till his death, he was too committed Gandhian thought and he never compromised on values. He went to jail a number of times and remained underground for almost tow year during the freedom struggle.
After Independence, he dedicated his life for social work under the influence of Sant Vonobha Bhave Ji. He was associated with the number of educational institutions in Moga and always advocated for quality education. His attachment with medical profession and education inspired us to start an institute for Nursing and other paramedical education.
We first started Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar School of Nursing for GNM & ANM program. After successful functioning of the school, We decided to start a state of the art of Nursing College in Moga. There is a great demand for nursing personals throughout the world. We hope to give the Young People of the country an opportunity to move ahead with self-respect and dignity.
Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation acquired a land on Barnala-Amritsar bypass road( NH- 71) for its new campus and he constructed a new academic block, library and Auditorium block of the college. The spacious green environment with all the modern facility has been provided to the students.
We have provided to the student most modern and well-stocked library in which especially E-library section has been provided. For the overall development of the student of our college, we have 500 seat state of art Auditorium for Symposia and extracurricular activity. The college campus is having with the beautiful ground for the outdoor activity for the students.
We have our own ruler health center and field teaching Centre for student clinical experience and more meeting the health need of the people in the community. Very shortly we are starting a college of Physiotherapy and pharmacy. A 350 bedded multi-specialist charitable hospital is under construction in the campus.
